Threats to Biodiversity in Saskatchewan

Biodiversity faces a number of serious threats in Saskatchewan. The largest overall are in the categories of:
  • habitat loss and alteration (both terrestrial and aquatic)
  • habitat fragmentation (both terrestrial and aquatic)
  • invasion of exotic species (terrestrial)
  • pollution (aquatic)

The publication Threats to Biodiversity In Saskatchewan (1999), prepared by the Saskatchewan Research Council, provides an estimate of the threats to biodiversity within each of Saskatchewan's 11 Eco-Regions.
