Urban Responses in Saskatchewan
- The City of Regina has been involved in initiatives to reduce local impacts on the climate since 1990. It was the third municipality in Canada to set a greenhouse gas emission reduction target. In order to reduce Regina's impacts on climate, the Cool Down The City program was developed to educate the community about climate change. It encourages local action to dramatically reduce greenhouse gas emissions and meet the target set by City Council to
reduce greenhouse gas emissions with the community of Regina by 6% of 1990 levels by 2012.
- The Green Ribbon Community Climate Change Advisory Committee, also known as the Green Ribbon Committee, released its Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reduction Action Plan in 2004.

The City of Saskatoon is taking action on climate change and working to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The City is a member of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities’ Partners for Climate Protection Program to lower greenhouse gas emissions and improve the quality of life for Saskatoon residents.

The City of Prince Albert has set a goal to recycle 30% of the waste generated in their city. In addition to the blue bin paper recycling program, the new landfill has an area set aside for other recyclable or reusable items.
