Alternative Energy

There are hundreds of sources of energy on this planet, and many of them are much more renewable, safe, non-polluting, and even cost-effective than fossil fuels or nuclear power. In recent years, a number of these options have started to take off, including wind power, solar power, biomass, small hydro, and hydrogen.

Wind power, for example, currently produces enough energy to provide electricity for 24 million people worldwide and its use is growing at 31 percent a year. Saskatchewan now has a considerable wind program underway, as well as pilot projects in biomass, hydrogen, and solar.
