SaskPower's GreenPower Program
GreenPower is an optional electricity product for those willing to pay a little more for environmentally friendly electricity. GreenPower provides an opportunity for individuals, businesses and industry to work together to support the development of EcoLogo certified renewable energy in Saskatchewan.
Individuals and business can choose to buy GreenPower for $2.50 per 100 kilowatt-hour block. This is an additional cost over the regulated electricity rate to cover the higher cost of generation. By buying just one 100 kilowatt-hour (kWh) block of GreenPower - enough electricity to operate your washer and dryer for a month - you will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by as much as planting about 200 full grown trees. All that for an extra $2.50 per month.
The GreenPower product is delivered from wind power installations located in southwest Saskatchewan.
