Saskatchewan Research Council
One of the most effective energy related policies available to government is the promotion of energy conservation through a variety of program initiatives and information services.
The Saskatchewan Research Council (SRC) offers a variety of energy conservation programming.
-
Municipal Energy Conservation Program
The Municipal Energy Conservation Program provides municipalities with financial assistance to become more energy efficient, reduce energy costs, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Program areas currently focus on energy efficient lighting and heating, demand side management for rinks, and solar water heating. The website contains information about programs and funding available through SRC.
Solar Heating
The Solar Water Heating Initiative for Today (SHIFT) is available for large consumers of hot water to install solar water heaters and save money on energy.
Net Metering
The Net Metering Program will pay a one-time fee equivalent to 25 per cent of eligible costs up to a maximum of $100,000 (i.e., maximum $25,000) for projects with generating capacities of 100kW or less that comply with the local utility's net metering policies.
